Billboards Are DEAD! January 20, 2006

Ok maybe not. I dont like 99.9% of billboard ads anyway. I did my undergrad work at University of Wisconsin LaCrosse and anyone who lived in LaCrosse in 1999 would attest to the visual clutter that the billboards become. It got so bad that the town had to pass legislation to pull some of them down. It was awful, especially in a town as beautiful as LaCrosse. Hopefully Target has started a trend and we can get away from ruining our cityscapes with thousands of ugly billboards. Highly unlikley but I can dream can’t I? So what did target do? They simply painted their logo on the roof of one of there stores to take advantage of rabid use of Google Maps. See below

This would be a great business venture, hire some painters and sell the service to local businesses as another channel for ads. Or we can just wait for Google to do it for us.
